The Common Bond team had a big vision: expand from a single Montrose location all across Houston and beyond. But how?
That’s where we came in. We analyzed the original location for what worked, and what could use improvement. We established a brand design guide that identified non-negotiable elements and portions of the architecture and interior design that could be flexible. We identified the differentiators for each market offering, and created a template for how the architecture and interiors would respond to each type of service, location and demographic. The result was a 3-tier model: Fast-casual Bistro, Fine-dining Brasserie, and drive-thru centered on-the-go locations.
As the design director for this multi-brand launch, we knew the Brasserie offering had to be the show-stopper. This new concept would include full service dining, full bar, private dining room, bakery counter and outdoor patio – all tucked inside of a new Class-A office in downtown Houston. Not only did this location have to set the tone for the new Brasserie concept, it needed to bring in the values and familiarity of the original Montrose location.
With a refreshed multi-colored palette, and a clear architecture and interiors guide in place, we created a breakfast-noon-and-night concept that accommodates patrons throughout the day. Grab a pastry at the walk-up counter, sit down inside or out, have a business lunch and then unwind at the bar for happy hour and dinner with friends.
